Clare Kim is a self-taught artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Working primarily in mixed media—focusing on paint, graphite, and clay—she explores memory, family history, and the intricate relationship between nature and the human experience. Inspired by the natural world and personal archives, she weaves together painting, drawing, and repurposed materials to create layered, textured narratives. Her work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including at Paradigm Gallery (Philadelphia, PA), Studio 9D (New York, NY), HBX (New York, NY), Land to Sea (Brooklyn, NY), and Chinatown Soup (New York, NY). She has had two solo exhibitions at Chinatown Soup, where she was also a resident artist.

My work explores the interconnectedness of nature, spirituality, and the human experience. Through mixed media—primarily oil and acrylic paint, graphite, and clay—I examine how memory, personal history, and the natural world intertwine in a layered, evolving narrative. I am drawn to quiet, often-overlooked moments that reveal the beauty embedded in everyday life.
Guided by intuition, dreams, and memory, my creative process is both personal and exploratory. Beyond nature and lived experience, I find inspiration in my family history, working with passed-down photographs and relics to unearth personal and collective narratives. These artifacts act as bridges between past and present, seen and unseen, the individual and the collective.
Ultimately, my work is about connection—tracing the threads that bind us to each other, to our histories, and to the world around us.
